Vertical Axis Wind Turbines and Solar Power Generation Hybrid System
Optimized hybrid renewable energy plant β minimizing cost, maximizing output
Although solar and wind energy are two of the most viable renewable energy sources, little research has been done on operating both energy sources alongside one another in order to take advantage of their complementary characters. In this project, we develop an optimal design for a hybrid solar-wind energy plant, where the variables that are optimized over include the number of photovoltaic modules, the wind turbine height, the number of wind turbines, and the turbine rotor diameter, and the goal is to minimize costs.
This project deals with the detailed design of a hybrid model combining solar and wind energy, using a battery as its storage system. The purpose is to generate electricity without using non-renewable resources, eliminating pollution. Since standalone renewable energy generation systems have inherent disadvantages, they need to be overcome by hybrid systems. Wind and solar energy are particularly popular owing to their abundant availability and convertibility to electrical energy.
This work covers the realization of a hybrid energy system for multiple applications, which runs under a designed circuitry to utilize both solar and wind power. A specialized circuitry is designed for more efficient results, along with inverters to convert the electrical energy as per demand β delivering clean power to any connected load.
